Capcom missed the western boat with the last two releases of Monster Hunter only hitting Japan soil. They really need to make up some ground in the west and release Monster Hunter 4 at the same time or very close to its Japan release date of Spring 2013.
Bumeo has sent in a link to Forbes article “Why Capcom Needs To Bring ‘Monster Hunter’ To North American PS3 And Xbox 360 Owners“.
Personally I don’t think it has to come on a home console and a 3DS version would do very well outside of Japan provided it has some form of online play and is not dependent on Adhoc.
Another interesting link is one from product-reviews.net Capcom’s PS Vita mistake with Monster Hunter 4 (product-reviews.net)

Well, I don’t own a 3DS and even if I really like MH, I’m not sure about buying a new console for that game… Besides there is already MH3rd HD on PS3 and it would be probably cheaper to just make an english version or it… MH3G or 4 on PS3 would be nice, but this is mostly impossible… Let’s hope…
The 3DS is at a price point that I would get it for MH, but forking out the money for a Vita just to play it is not going to happen. If enough other games came out for the Vita I wanted I would consider it, but it would have to be for more than just MH.
Portable 3rd HD is not going to happen outside Japan with out a change to its networking options. Sony is just not going to let Capcom use Adhoc with it, and that could be a large investment to redo.
If I had to buy a vita for a new monster hunter so be it. Anything for the cause of the hunt.
I find it kind of self centered of people who think that a company or anyone should make a game on a system just because “they” own it.
Yes, we all would love to have the best game for the system “we” own but it’s a bit selfish to think that game companies should cater to just “us”. The 3DS is a great system and fits MH well as did the PSP when it had MH.
TA some point a new system will come out and it will have MH, it happens with all games some systems get them some don’t. IMO we should be more excited that there are still Monster Hunter games being create than what system they are on. If you are able to get it that (and there is a wester release) that is wonderful. If not be happy for those who can not upset that it’s on a system you currently do not have.
I agree with your point on wanting a game for your specific system you own.
Wise words
I’m hoping for a Monster Hunter game for the Wii U because MH3 just worked so beautifully on the Wii.
Agreed for the Wii U, I prefer this than a portable console.
I think that since portable consoles are the future of gaming (unfortunately) Capcom is getting a head start with MH4 and MH3G being on the 3DS. I’m not opposed to this decision, just wondering how those quick-time looking things in the trailer will change the game…
Well here’s my opinion why the release on portables and why 3ds and not vita:
1- the developing is cheaper. Yes!! it is they dont need to do HD stuff with the 3ds they just need to do it 3d and the 3ds gives you Gamecoube graphics?? or in between gamecube and n64?? well it’s cheaper to depelop something like that.
2- Center in new stuff. Yea we all know the monster hunter formula: pot, dodge hit, kill, carve and bomb and tramps collect collect etc. Dont get me wrong i love it but some people may get bored fast so wath is needed??’ NEW GAME MECANICS!! so now is runing, going on the monster (even though this has been done with lao on the online game).
So that is why. Also in here (the west), most popular game are shooters, we miss a lot of great game becouse of that, check out this E3 xbox and ps3 most of the time they go for shooters, new game?? o yes!! mistery!! o yes!! aliens!! o yes!!! but gess wath is a shooters game just with new mecanics.
Camcom marketing knows this and they are not going to risk releasing something unless they know is going to hit or they have the full support of their parter, in this case Nintendo!! remember the hunters videos well that was good stuff, going around the US with a lagicirus on the car hahahahaa, well stuff like that that sony didn’t do.
Well that’s my opinion, also GO PLAY MH TRI! NAOOOOOO
Just correcting is not lao is Jhen hahaha sorry mixing the names ajajjjaaj the big ass dragon of the game THERE YOU GO!!
Nah. Its just about the DOUGH bro. Nothing more, nothing less. Who don’t want money right? Probably sony and crapcom have some arguments about the game and they stop creating a game for their handhelds. The funny thing is Crapcom always teases Sony by creating games that has Monster Hunter correlation on it, like Dragons Dogma. Idk but in my opinion, if I was the developer and I want to see people smiling and thanking me to making this game, I would develop it on a handheld that can keep up with the graphics of a console today. I know capcom can develop high def games with low cost of money they just dont want to make a game for sony handheld no more.
The claw…. is a pain… that make me stop playing on the PSP… call me fluffy, but I have big hands and this is really not a nice way to handle a console… If the future of MH is on 3DS, I will start looking for more games to buy for this console.
I see your point but, does vita have “Dual Analog Sticks”? Yes. How about 3DS? None. You need to buy the add on for 3DS to make it happen. To rubbish IMO.
sometime i wonder is we should ask capcom to throw a kickstarter for MHvita International. if its all money that they want.
I definitively think too there are some people at capcom who need to be kickstarted. In the face, with glacier boots, nine times.
When players agree with shareholders, you must be doing something very wrong
I once heard that they were talking about making mh tri for ps3, but they finally didn’t because they wanted too much money. So they changed their mind and made it for wii, since then, they have something similar to a pact with nintendo. nintendo announce it everywhere and they make games only for nintendo.
3ds is also great for a mh game. Why?, because you can pause your game if you need it (not in online due to obvious reasons) and finish it everywhere, sometimes, i can’t play because I have to go in 40 minutes, enough to get bored and too little to play.
All in all, i suspect why it is in 3ds, but i dont mind, just enjoy it.
