In any interview with Weekly Famitsu Ryozo Tsujimoto the Series Producer has confirmed that 60% of Monster Hunter 4 is complete. Monster Hunter 4 is expected in Japan for Spring 2013.
Lets hope 10% of the remaining is translations and announcing a release outside of Japan.

With Nintendo doing the direct download games now, if Capcom has planned ahead and made Transplating the game part of the actual game development process (which is cheaper in the long run if a worl wide release is planned) we could see a western release the same day as a Japan release through Nintendos e-shop for MH4….. Here’s some wishful thinking anyways.
This could very be what Sven and the new community manager have been hinting about something before the end of year. I still beleive in you Capcom!
Fingers crossed hoping this is the case.
the 10 % thing… ha-ha.
I don’t know man… We were promised a new Monster Hunter but I think it’s going to be just a 3rd gen game translated. I’m hoping for MHP3G so people will quit bugging CAPCOM about MHP3rd. Then people will go crazy about MH4. It’s not meant to make sense, it’s more like wibbly wobbly, nonsensical stuff, as The Doctor might say.
1) I would rather have Portable 3rd (and portable 3rd hd) then get 4 right now.
2) I commend you for the Dr. Who reference.
Haven’t had any Monster Hunter News for a while… I’m worried
It’s not like Capcom is making lots of news neither…
Exactly >_>
Just a bit ‘blah’ when I have made a habit of checking this site everyday… Probably a bad idea.
News has been slow the past week in the land of Monster Hunter. Hoping this is the calm before the storm, and we get some big Monster Hunter news soon.
I hope you’re right Mr Admin, sir.
I personally can’t understand capcom’s marketing strategy of MH4 by releasing it only in 3DS without western translation, do they (i mean capcom guys) realized that by giving english translation and launched it for multi platform they could make millions on profit ??
Video game industry is about to winning gamers heart worldwide which will lead to millions copy to be sold, how could they plan to release it for 3DS in japanese only ?..Or perhaps capcom need a new marketing survey team ? Lol
.i’m still hoping that Vita and PC will get MH4 english translation
We can only hope.
There a small detail you’re not considering. PC and Vita are not strong in japan, actually last week 3DS outsold 37 to 1 the Vita, so making a game multiplatform means that they essentally ave to make the games all over multiple times, it’s not as easy as saying change button X to do what B does in 3DS, since 3DS has two screens, it has touch controls, it has 3D effects, it has a different graphic engine. It’s not as easy as saying it’s the same with a different name.
Besides, Capcom hasn’t said that MH4 isn’t comming to the west, they’re building the hype for something MH realted, which given the time frame might as well be the announcement that MH4 will be comming to the west.
Like I said, we can only hope. I know its not that simple, I’m a programmer
Agreed with you Ceipe about console popularity in Japan, every region has it own popular consoles. Eventhough i’m also lives in asia but ps3 and xbox360 are way more popular than handheld like vita and 3DS, that is why i do think that capcom team worldwide should consider to start translating it to multi platform while capcom team of japan focused in 3DS handheld, eventhough it is not an easy task but still the profit potential by releasing it wordwide in english version will obviously very big
Even in the US the sales of the 3DS are double that of the vita and that’s per-3DSxl launch. So like it or not at the moment the vita (nor Sony) are giving Capcom and other 3rd party companies much reason to develop for the system right now, for multiple reasons. Hopefully that will change but at the moment in Japan and worldwide it only make sense to focus on (with handhelds) just the 3DS. With other consoles that’s a different story entirely.
im tell all u ppl like it is i wont believe it till i see it!!!!! rule of thumb i learned from capcom is we wont get the game but we will get alot of u might get it u! and no im not on the team (wish i was west would get monster hunter everytime no exceptions) or anything just a fan who knows what to expect form capcom DX i do have a qustion though r u going to buy a 3 ds 4 the new monster hunter? cuz like if it does come out it wont hit the console u wanted it 2!!!!! it will be on the off brand consoles that no1 wants so that they can increase sells on them 2 birds 1 stone ploy here i just monster hunter to be on ps3 in the west!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, I won’t debate on the pesimistic stance, but you’re basing your statement that noone wants a 3ds on what basically? On the fact that it’s outselling psvita in Japan 35 to 1? Or in the US 2 to 1? The way I see it 3DS is the best choice to get revenue, not ps3 which is theoretically about to die once ps4 comes out.
Most likely there won’t be a PS4 out for quite a while, even if one is announced next year.
As far as the 3DS, it is the only system that continues to increase in sales and make a profit (this is based over the last 8 months) and includes all home and portable consoles.
ok ceipe u can buy a new system 4 every monster hunter game that comes out thats u not me i wont have any more system that i only play 1 game on its a waste 2 me and i didnt say no1 wanted 1 i asked a question dude as a fan im just asking y ignore all the fans 4 the system they want !!!! well a X boxs and ps3 and ps vita monster hunter would more likely sell bttr then any other mh game in the west. but we might not see that day
Ok, I’m goign to tone down my response to leave you with one question. If Capcom was doing what you claim, that they are actually trying to save a console that is not doing well, that would imply that they are risk takers, and seeing how they refuse to take the risk of localizing MH I would therefore say we are at an oxymoron, don’t you think? I understand you want MH to come to your consoles, heck we all want to, but numbers point towards Nintendo right now, and that’s why they are doing it.
I really doubt they will ever bring it to xbox, as it would have to be a port and a localization, as 360 sales are really low in Japan and there may still be some tension between Capcom and Sony over the whole “who gets to pay for the adhoc update in Europa and NA in order to localize MHP3rd”
Also keep in mind that Sony is having difficulty getting any 3rd party support at the moment while Nintendo offers more incentives and helps with the costs of development and localization if needed, which in turn helps out many development companies. In the end it’s all about the profit for the company versus the overall cost. Games like p3rd/p3rdHD which were basically ports with minor upgrades costs capcom little to produce and market (in Japan0 for the PSP/PSN store and the ps3 but would have cost them a lot more to distribute world wide…. Same with 3G which they basically barrowed coding from Tri and P3rd for…
MH4 however is a bit different, they recieved $$$ from the profits from 3G thanks to Nin’s support and the large sales of 3G also (if they did the coding/translation for a world wide release) it would be cheaper from the start… And Nintendo is a big supporter of having games released to all markets and may even contribute more to the development. Sony and Microsoft do not usually do this. Also, as MH4 was being developed alongside 3G this too helped with development and cost in many ways even though it was a seperate team working on it… Same system though.
So from just a development cost stand point and a system #’s and marketing stand point along with ease of development… At the moment the 3DS is the most likely money maker for the MH series to be on… Regardless of anyones prefered system….
idk if they takin risk with moster hunter games cuz im pretty sure it will be a blow out lol but under a real note i aint hate on no systems or anything! and its just i dont understand why japan now western mh3rd 4 the psp? k i can understand that the ps3 had a hd havoc problem or whatever it was but the psp version 2? side note let me say how r u going to sale a system thats been out 4 a while and so many ppl own so of course sales would go down at somepoint i just wont buy a ds cuz they come out with a new so often look at all the versions lol
You see what I am worried about is… How will the gamplay change, I heard there was no more water, and how are fans going to react to that? Also how will the new monsters effect the gameplay, will it add (most likely), or corrupt the gameplay?
